Kiran Misra
Hi Adams! I’m so excited to be returning for my THIRD (wow!) year in the house as the prelaw team lead and to the fellowships and arts teams. I am (proudly) from Cedar Rapids, Iowa but have spent the last 10 years in Chicago, Greece, India, Italy, Germany, and England. I just finished my first year of law school at HLS and am returning to the fourth year of my PhD in the Government department, where I research criminalization and incarceration. Before graduate school, I worked for the UN, as an investigator at a public defender service, and as a longform journalist. In my free time I represent clients in criminal show cause and parole hearings, play violin and flute in the GSAS orchestra, compete on a gymnastics team, and manage my time very poorly in the dining hall. Ask me about: my cats (in Iowa) Kulfi and Elaichi, face sunscreen recommendations, biking 500 miles across Iowa, running a marathon without training, and my local and international sandwich rankings. You can also ask me for career advice about journalism, working for the UN and UN agencies, legal careers, applying to PhDs, and working abroad.
