Daniel Kim
Hey Adams!! I’m currently a G3 in the HST MEMP PhD program and a 5th year in the Harvard-MIT MD PhD program, where I am interested in developing technology and studying new physics to advance early detection of cancer and other diseases. I was born in Memphis, TN but grew up for most of my life in Lexington, MA. All through grade school, I wanted to become a classical pianist, but when I came to Harvard, I switched focus to molecular biology, much to the chagrin of my piano teachers. While at Harvard, I lived in Adams, and was a former HoCo Arts Chair! I was also involved in a lot of service-oriented activities. After graduating in 2019, I took a gap year to work in a physics lab at Harvard where I studied quantum systems applied to nanoscale sensing, much to the chagrin of my biology mentors. In my copious free time, I like going on runs around the Cambridge neighborhoods, trying out new recipes, making and listening to music, and staving off existential crises. Come by Randolph 322 for a coffee or tea and a listening ear — happy to talk about anything and everything!
