Elissa Day
Hi Adams! My name is Elissa and I'm a PhD student in Egyptology (NELC). I grew up in London, and my mother's side of the family is from Vietnam (xin chào mọi người).
I completed my BA in Egyptology with a minor in Chinese at the University of Liverpool and have lived all over since then - a year in Cambridge (the UK one) for my MPhil at Selwyn College, 2 years in Bloomington, Indiana (go Hoosiers!) where I fell in love with Outback Steakhouse, and one semester in both Cairo and Berlin.
Alongside my PhD studies, I am the Head Teaching Fellow for all things Entrepreneurship at the College, so you'll see me in ES30, 31 and 94. I've also taught a GenEd on Ancient Economies and will be TF-ing the Pyramids of Giza course in the VizLab this year.
In my free time, I love to travel, play video games, watch far too much American football (both college and NFL), and (try to) write fiction. Come and talk to me about British words, my coleslaw review blog, and the time I took a slide down the Great Wall of China! You can also ask me about grad school, studying abroad, and anything related to being an international student.
