Fannie Mae and the Affordable Housing Crisis

Join Fannie Mae CEO Tim Mayopoulos as he discusses the affordable housing crisis in America and Fannie Mae's  unique role in providing access to affordable mortgage credit in communities across the country. He also will also give an update on the company’s progress in providing more homeowners and renters with access to housing options that are both affordable and sustainable and discuss how these actions are driving broader change in the housing finance system.  Moderated by Senior Fellow, Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative,  Bob Heckart.

There will be a 20 minute Q&A in which members of the audience may wish to explore topics such as FDR & the history of Fannie Mae, the role of home lending in the Great Recession, safeguards implemented since then, the role of partisan politics in mortgage practices,  the recent dramatic decline in home ownership in the United States and the importance of homeownership in maintaining the American dream.
