HoCo Events
We liaise between students and administration and work on initiatives to improve house life and accessibility, but we also put on a host of social events for the House! Here are some highlights: Carpe Noctem (Weekly): Every Thursday at 10 pm come to the Lower Common Room to hang out with all of Adams House over pizza, beverages, and music. Be there or be talked about. Sophomore Re-Opening Days (August): The House welcomes its new sophomores with three days of orientation, socializing, outings, and conversations about the transition to house life! The Big Oak, Little Acorn Program (September): Upperclassmen and incoming sophomores are paired based on a incredibly complicated top secret algorithm ensuring 100% compatibilityTM. In Fall 2017, we're launching a new incentive program where big oaks and little acorns can meet up outside of the House and get reimbursed for food any place in the Square! See the photos of these outings HERE. Drag Night (October): For one magical night a year, Adams House lets its hair down for the annual Drag Night. Harvard’s oldest drag night, this yearly tradition is not to be missed. There’s nothing more Adams House than drag. Just remember the timeless Socrates quote, “Adams House: where the women are beautiful and the men are too!”Come for the dancing, the singing, the lipsyncing, and the beautiful dresses. Harvard-Yale Tailgate (November): Stop by the Adams / Quincy / Lowell neighborhood tailgate at The Game. In previous years, the tailgate has featured stuffed turkeys, lots of beverages, and giveaways. Winter Feast (December): The Winter Feast is an Adams House tradition. The Dining Hall is decorated in its Adams House best, the entertainment is always top-notch, and the food is not to be missed. After the annual blacktie reading of Winnie the Pooh the House goes to Apthorp House for caroling and eggnog. Winter Formal (December): The Winter Formal showcases Adams glamour in all its might. Formals have always been held in the House, and the night is always the highlight of the semester. Chocoholica (February): Valentine’s Day isn’t the same when you’re in Adams House. Come for the swing dancing, the erotic chocolates, and the champagne. Housing Day (March): Housing Day is one of the most exciting days of the year! The day is divided into four components:
- Dorm Storming: Come get your face tattooed with the Adams House shield, pick up your Housing Day t-shirt, and be in the group photo.
- Annenberg: Come to Annenberg during lunch to stand on tables with us and hand out shirts and meet some new Adamsians.
- Dinner: The Adams House Freshmen are invited to dinner in the House and then for a desert reception where they receive their cigar, rose, and sign the Adams House Book.
- Housing Day Carpe Noctem: Come and celebrate with the new Adamsians, enjoy the standard Carpe food and drinks with a Housing Day spin.
