**How I'm Fighting Bias in Algorithms**

Joy Buolamwini leads the Algorithmic Justice League to fight bias in Machine Learning. She is the founder of[ Code4Rights](http://code4rights.org/) and a graduate researcher with the Civic Media group at the MIT Media Lab. Joy is a[Rhodes Scholar](http://www.gatech.edu/newsroom/release.html?nid=172241), a[ Fulbright Fellow,](https://alumni.state.gov/highlight/fulbright-alumna-promotes-stem-education-girls-clinton-global-initiative) an[ Astronaut Scholar](http://astronautscholarship.org/scholar-spotlight-joy-buolamwini/), a Google Anita Borg Scholar, and speaker giving talks at TEDx, the White House, and the Vatican.

As an entrepreneur, she co-founded [Techturized Inc](http://www.myavana.com/) - a hair-care technology company and advises [Bloomer Tech](https://www.bloomertech.com/team/) - a smart clothing startup transforming women’s health.
